Spring Saturday...
I am sitting out on the deck playing on the computer on Sunday afternoon. David is planting a Malus Snowdrift tree in the backyard. It's about 75 and sunny. Not a cloud in the sky....these are the days that New Englanders live for. Yesterday was also one such day and we took full advantage.
It was a BEAUTIFUL Saturday, so we decided to go out for the first lobster of the season! YEAH!!!! Off to the best place in CT for lobster, Abbott's Lobster in the Rough in Noank:
The View:
Our lunch. Lobster, so common here in season, you can eat them with potato chips:
After lunch we went for a walk around the dock and the neighborhood. Jenny, remember I was telling you about "shrink-wrapping" the boats? There were a few that weren't "un-wrapped" yet. They tie a piece of plastic over the boat and then walk around it with a giant fire torch and it shrink-wraps. (like a gift shrink wrap with a blow dryer):
The neighborhood backed up to the water. This house had a GREAT deck and a hammock in back. What if this was your view from the kitchen window?? It was amazing:
This yard had a huge japanese red-blood maple. (David planted one in his front yard. Wonder if it will get that big.)
Then we headed to Mystic for ice cream and some window shopping along the bridge:
I had coconut in a waffle cone and David had some sort of brandy, rum, coffee, fudge concoction. It was YUMMY:
I couldn't bare the thought of going home yet, so we headed to Haddam to the Goodspeed Opera House park. We were sitting up on the patio enjoying the view of the river and the breeze. Up walked a group of prom dates taking photos with their parents. We sat and watched all the excitement. We decided it would have been GREAT if they had all rented that giant yacht in the background for prom. But the owner soon came out and sailed off:
We came home and grilled out on the patio that night about 9:00. Steak with shrimp and avocados. We ate like kings all day long. The weather couldn't have been nicer. Blue skies, slight breeze, beautiful scenery....CT at it's finest. It was a nice Saturday!
