Happy Mother's Day Weekend!
It comes around every year. The modern day version of Mother's Day in the US, was first observed in 1907. In 1914, the US Congress passed legislation designating the second Sunday in May as Mother's Day. There were an estimated 85.4 million mothers in the United States in 2009. That's a lot of mothers!
While it can be a hard day for some, for me it's always been a good day. A day of celebration. I have been blessed with a great mother and a village of people who have come along beside her to help "mother" me. So, this weekend is a celebration of mothers everywhere ... the single moms working hard to do it on their own ... the empty nesters, the overwhelmed mothers of little ones ... (or teenagers) ... the blissfully happy mother's enjoying every day raising their children up or supporting their grown children in their endeavours.
