Rednecks In Connecticut

This is just a silly song ... no meaning behind it. I just stumbled across it when I was looking for another song and it made me giggle for a second. That's all. So I thought I'd share. Don't worry Dad, that Yankee liberal hasn't corrupted my conservative mind! :)

But it really is funny how country most of Connecticut is. I think most people down south think of Greenwich money, poor urban cities like New Haven and Hartford and ocean coastline vacation homes. A place where "the New Yorkers go" to get away. But there are plenty of John Deere tractors, farms and dairies, orchards, cows and chickens .... oh and don't get me started on the country concerts up here ... there are more boots, straw hats and belt buckles than in the whole city of Ft. Worth!  Guess that's why it just made me giggle ... that and the upbeat pickin'.

All these photos are ones I've taken in Connecticut .... who knew?

(Just a note, the cows at then end were at the end of the street in our neighborhood and I stopped and got the shots on the way home .... they were marching right toward me.)

LYRICS
I'm gonna run as fast as I can
And get away from the rednecks in Alabama
And their backwoods ways and conservative minds
But now that I'm up north I see rednecks all the time

After 21 years I was ready to forget
And trade my life in Alabama for one in Connecticut
I thought that New England would be a welcome relief
But the longer I stay I just multiply my grief

I'm gonna run as fast as I can
And get away from the rednecks in Alabama
And their backwoods ways and conservative minds
But now that I'm up north I see rednecks all the time

Well, needless to say I wasn't prepared
And now that I'm here all I can do is stare
At cow fields and barns all over the place
Sometimes I get the feeling like I'm back in my home state

I'm gonna run as fast as I can
And get away from the rednecks in Alabama
And their backwoods ways and conservative minds
But now that I'm up north I see rednecks all the time

Well don't get me wrong it's better than it seems
Especially when the autumn leaves are turning on the trees
And down in Alabama we don't get no snow
But is that a reason to stay or a reason to go

???????????????????????????????????????????????????

Now I'm used to seeing ball caps with overalls
And tractors on the highway that puts traffic to a stall
But there's one thing I did not expect to see
That's an ad for a line dancing bar on Connecticut TV

I'm gonna run as fast as I can
And get away from the rednecks in Alabama
And their backwoods ways and conservative minds
But now that I'm up north I see rednecks all the time

Well I guess I got more than I bargained for
When I left a town called Foley and moved to one called Storrs
Now I've been in both and there's one thing I know
Everywhere's the same no matter where you go

I'm gonna run as fast as I can
And get away from the rednecks in Alabama
And their backwoods ways and conservative minds
But now that I'm up north I see rednecks all the time
