Get Out The Broom......There's Going To Be A Sweep!

There seems to be a friendly rivalry between David and Mary. First it was innocent enough, his dreaded Red Sox and beloved Yankees. Mary wasn't actually from Boston, so it could be easily overlooked. (Well, not that easily, but overlooked none the less.) After all, at the time he was looking for all the family support he could get and found a true ally in Mary!

He even he took her into his home, around his state and to meet his parents.

But just last week Mary made a phone call - a phone call to David about the Rangers meeting the Yankees in the playoffs. She opened that door and it's all I've heard about since.  "Should I bet her?" "What should we bet?" "Mary's team is going down." "I need to call her."

So without any further delay....a blog from a very special guest near and dear to my heart, The Yankee Fan, The Husband, and now Guest Blogger:

Mary,

Life is all about odds, isn’t it??? There are odds for this and odds for that. Like the odds of winning the lottery is about a bazillion to one. The odds of me going to work everyday, well, one to one, unfortunately.  The odds are that the Yankees will certainly beat the Ranger and move on to the World Series. Why you might ask??? Well, let’s take a short stroll through World Series history and compare the two teams:
  •  Since the first world series in 1903 (Boston vs. Pittsburgh) the Yankees have been in 40 World Series and they have won 27 of them. This year will be the 105th World Series (there were no World Series in 1904 and 1994). So the Yankees have won a little over 25% of all the World Series titles. WOW!!! Sorry Cowboy fans, not even “America’s Team” can live up to the Yankees' winning percentage.
  • I know the Texas Ranger don’t have the history of the Yankees and they have only been the Texas Ranger since 1972 but how many World Series have they been to??? Answer – zero. Ouch!
Okay, maybe the Texas Ranger can miraculously beat the Yankees this year and win the World Series. It could happen….After all, the “odds” of me meeting and marrying the finest girl in all of Texas is about 24,782,302 to 1 and it happened. So Aunt Mary and all Ranger fans, keep the faith, one day it might just happen!

David,

I'm glad that we agree that you won the lottery in Kimmy. And, I agree that the Yankees will probably win the series. But, that doesn't mean that they're the best team or even deserve to win. I'll be happy (and you'll be sorry) if the Rangers win two games. Then I can delight in watching the Yankees lose the World Series. Ha!

Aunt Mary

P.S. At least one outcome of the series, will be that the people on the East coast will come to know that they're called the TEXAS RANGERS (not Ranger)!

And it's all I've been hearing about too, David. She's pumped! So watch out. U. Bill

Duly noted Aunt Mary…. I am not sure what I was thinking… Of course they are the Texas Rangers! Maybe I was thinking that there is only one “Texas Ranger” worth talking about. -- Cliff Lee - :-)
So, what shall our friendly wager be???? Money? Baseball apparel? Or just the right to brag?

David, A late post to let you know that Aunt Mary is saying that she wishes that the two of you could be in the same room watching the game. That way, every time you yelled, "NO", she would be yelling, "YES." She also said that she knows that you have been yelling, "NOOOOOOOO", a whole lot lately. Well..."NO", all the time lately!!! (hey, I just report the news).

Don't worry, David. The Yankees will win next year. They're going to buy all the Rangers players at the end of the season. Just watch.

Mary and Bill - I wish I were there toooooo! It would be SO much fun watching the game, heckling each other, giving each other the business…

The Yankees aren't dead yet... A comeback is always possible... :-)

PS Bill you are correct… I can see Cliff Lee in Pinstripes next year. Ha
