Mom and Dad's Timeline

It's Tuesday morning and I have just dropped Mom and Dad off at the airport. They are traveling back to Texas as I write this. We had such a GREAT visit....it was better than I even expected. The weather was so good. We had some new adventures (even new to me!) and some good food. Mom and Dad got to meet Nancy and George and they were so gracious to let us stay in New Hampshire on Sunday night. (Thank you SO MUCH for opening your lake house to us...it was SO FUN!) The stories are Mom and Dad's to tell so I won't blog them here. You'll have to have dinner with them and catch up. But since our memories aren't perfect, I decided to do a "timeline" more for Mom and Dad and my own journaling purposes.

FRIDAY
  • We picked them up after a plane delay and gave them a tour of Hartford, our work offices, our home in Hebron, etc. by way of the nation's oldest continuously operating ferry service.
  • We had dinner with Evan at the house and sat out on the patio. It was drizzling, but not raining. Not ideal weather for an outdoor meal, but we suffered through. It was cooler than Texas!

SATURDAY
  • We got up and hung around the house in the morning.
  • Lunch at Harry's for burgers and lobster rolls.
  • We went by Tiffany Farms and saw the prize milking cows.
  • Went by and saw David's boat and Hamburg Cove.
  • Took the Essex steam train to the Becky Thatcher river boat and a trip down the Connecticut River.
  • We had dinner at The Gelston House near the Goodspeed and watched the planes fly in over the river.
  • We came back to the house to get ready to go to the Hebron fairgrounds to see the fireworks, but they ended up being cancelled, so we spent the night in on a Saturday.
 SUNDAY
  • We went to church in the morning.
  • We had the nerve to take them to Mexican food for lunch in Middletown.
  • We went shopping at Yankee Candle Store in Massachusetts on the way to New Hampshire.
  • We went to the lake house and met David's parents. Then saw their farmhouse.
  • We went to dinner in Vermont at The Putney Inn.
  • We went back to the lake and watched the sun go down.
  • We played cards and Yahtzee and Qwirkle until we crashed.
 MONDAY
  • Monday we got up and spent the morning on the lake. Saw a blue heron and a bald eagle.
  • Watched the fog lift and the talked for a few hours on the dock.
  • David saved an 82-year old man.
  • Went to Keene and saw David's college, Keene State College.
  • Went to the Colony Mill Marketplace for some book shopping and lunch.
  • We went back to the lake house and then home by way of more shopping in Glastonbury and our little town of Hebron.
  • Dinner on the patio and it was time for packing and sleeping in preparation for the big trip back this morning.
It went so fast! I was dropping them off this morning and it felt like I just picked them up. I had such a great time! Thank you Mom and Dad for making the trip. It meant so much to me that you got to see my new home. I am glad that you have memories and photos and experiences to take back with you. Thank you David for driving and driving and DRIVING us all over the place. You were a good sport! And thank you George and Nancy for being so kind and hospitable yet again! I can't thank you enough for letting us come out and stay at hte lake. It's such a BEAUTIFUL place to visit!

Operation Parent's Visit: A SUCCESS! :) What a fun visit!
