Pinterest Makes Me Want To Be A Parent

Have you been on Pinterest?  I resisted it at first, but I'm hooked now.

Pinterest makes me want to be a photographer, a chef, an event planner, a food stylist, an interior decorator, a baker, a fashion designer, a professional organizer, no a professional shopper ... but most of all it makes we want to be a parent.

Pinterest makes the stay at home mom job look like an endless world of arts and crafts and happy celebratory moments. There are no dirty diapers, no vomit, no fevers, no discipline, no messes.  And even if there were these things, they would only be on Pinterest because some smart parent figured out a clever way to make it better, easier, cuter.

No, Pinterest makes parenting look like this:
  • Fort Fridays  - from trampoline to indoor camping forts complete with lighting and "fake fire"
  • 101 Ways To Make Bubbles Bigger and Better
  • Sandwiches that look like forest creatures or rainbow ANYTHING from fruit trays to carbonated drinks
  • Light sabers made from swimming noodles and duct tape
  • Bins and shelves and boxes of all shapes and sizes cleverly containing legos and matchbox cars
  • How to throw a birthday party for a princess, a pirate or an angry bird addict with a pair of scissors, hot glue, colored felt and a few paperclips
  • You can turn ANYTHING into a chalk board with a little paint and beautiful laughing children will play for hours with homemade non-toxic colored spray chalk
And all this while taking stunning photos of the event from the idea's creation to the actual play.

People ... well Moms particularly ... are SO CREATIVE!  What a wealth of ideas. What a genius way to share them.  I think if you have little ones in your world at all, this is a great place to go for inspiration.  It may not be representative of all Mom's do throughout the day, but it's not suppose to be. But even to create a few of these ideas a month .... what a gift to the kids in your world.  It's all the fun parts of having little ones around in one magically genius inspiring place!
