Haley's Trip Day #4

Sunday morning we got up early left the house about 7:15am.  We drove to New Haven and took the train to 125th in Harlem for brunch. I have been wanting to eat at Red Rooster and when Haley mentioned it, I jumped on it. We got there at a perfect time and had a very short wait to be seated.

Boncellia Lewis was performing the morning we were there.

We had a small table near the back and it was a perfect location. We had a little more room than most. The tables were small and really tight.  I was glad to have our little spot, even if it was in the back.

We had the cornbread with honey butter and tomato jam to start. So, you could enjoy the cornbread sweet or savory.  The jam was delicious! If they sold it in a jar, I would have bought some.

David went for the migas.

Haley and I had the famous Yard Bird.

The greens were SO GOOD!! Oh my goodness. I wanted a giant bowl of those. That was definitely my favorite part. We were all too full for dessert, so we headed out for a day of walking!

Our next stop was Grand Central Station.

How many people do you know that could take a photo that close up and look that amazing?  That's not touched up or anything ... straight from the camera. Haley has movie star skin!  Amazing.  So pretty. I love this photo.

And straight off to the New York Public Library. This is why it's fun to travel with other people. I can't imagine a scenario when David and I would choose to go to the library on a trip to New York if it was just us.  But we were glad that we saw it.

This was just too cool.

We went to Rockefeller Center and Times Square. Then stopped for a snack at Bouchon Bakery.

Our last stop before heading back to Grand Central was The Met. Haley only got a little time there, but she could have stayed much longer.  Maybe it was incentive to make another trip back to visit us. The Moma and The Met are easily two full days in New York.

We headed to Grand Central (by way of subway ..... so Haley can add the NY subway to her list of things she has done) and we all grabbed something different for dinner in the dining concourse. Finishing our day with a scoop of gelato and back home by 9:30.

We were dirty and tired and hurting, but we all had a really memorable day. We packed in quite a bit for a few hours in NY.

You're welcome back anytime Haley! We enjoyed having you here. We got to vacation right along with you!
